Director of Research, The Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA)

Amy Porath is director of research at the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA). Dr. Porath ensures that CCSA advances knowledge in the substance use field, to inform policies and practice, and respond to gaps in knowledge. For the past 17 years, her research on substance use issues has focused on cannabis and drug-impaired driving. As an internationally recognized subject matter expert, her expertise is sought out by the Government of Canada, Parliamentary Committees, the Senate of Canada and the World Health Organization.

With a PhD in psychology from Carleton University, Dr. Porath is a member of the College of Problems on Drug Dependence and the International Council on Alcohol, Drugs, and Traffic Safety and is cochair of CCSA’s Expert Advisory Group on Cannabis. Ms. Porath was just named one of OptiMYz Magazine’s Top 100 Health Influencers of 2019 in Canada for her research and public education efforts on cannabis.
